I have been pretty active on social media and have been creating plenty of content for LawnGreen‘s website. So I thought it would be good to tell you a little about myself and my plans for the business.

As with any business I am continually working at improving the business and the services it provides to LawnGreen clients. For me this is the most important thing for any business.

No doubt it’s also important to get the work/life balance right as well.

Yes, I am still planning my life and my business around it.

My wife and kids love that I love the business I am in, I always tell them that “if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life!”©

OK so moving on, I have always been passionate about my LawnGreen business, however, have also realised that I cannot keep going forever. If I can’t go forever “on the tools” I can definitely share my experiences and knowledge. This brings me to leaving a legacy or “a handover” if you like to the next generation of Lawn Care providers. Read on below of what is important to me in terms of the Lawn Care business going forward.

Regarding LawnGreen’s Legacy:

  1. I have always thought that Lawn Green Pty Ltd was a great business with a great business model, hence great to franchise. I had every intention of Franchising the LawnGreen business, however, over time lost the desire and ultimately I just didn’t have the energy to be responsible for a franchisee’s success or not when they had invested heavily into a Lawn Care franchise.
  2. My problem with franchising is you always feel responsible for someone else’s success or lack of success, especially when they have invested heavily (that is, lots of money and themselves) into the new business venture.
  3. Franchising, by definition, is a business arrangement where one party (the franchiser) grants another party (the franchisee) the right to use its trademark or trade-name or brand name as well as certain business systems and processes, to produce and market a good or service according to certain specifications.
  4. Franchising is, on paper, a great way to expand your business model quickly without investing the money capital yourself.
  5. However, I have seen too many franchises go sour because the franchise system did not deliver. At time of writing this in May 2018, the Franchising Industry in on the nose with some of the big Franchise systems under attack for under-performing for their franchisees.
  6. So how can I create a legacy of Lawn Green’s IP (Intellectual Property & systems) that can be enjoyed by my family, current customers (both LawnGreen clients and AILCP clients) and industry colleagues? This has been a question nagging me especially as I cannot keep doing the physical side of LawnGreen forever.
  7. After reading an online article, “How To Get Consulting Clients Fast – even if nobody’s ever heard of you.” by www.FrankKern.com I realised that all the information and experience I had built with LawnGreen over the last 20 years (since 2004) was valuable and I could leverage this with a new business. This new business is “The Lawn Care Coach” and the “Australian Institute Of Lawn Care Professionals.” The business name “Australian Institute Of Lawn Care Professionals” was registered with ASIC on 30/4/18
  8. The AILCP is owned by Lawn Green Pty Ltd.
  9. At AILCP, we help Landscape (Maintenance) Contractors upsell to existing customers easily, tripling their profits in 8 weeks, without competing on price ever again.
  10. Alternatively, we help Lawn Lovers (anyone) build a weed & feed Lawn Care business without the big Franchise Fees.
  11. The aim of AILCP is to help people in the Landscape Industry build their own Lawn Care business.
  12. AILCP will provide a coaching/mentoring service to these people for a small fee per month of around $66 pm.
  13. Members of AILCP will remain members for as long as they are paid up in advance.
  14. Compared with a Franchise investment this is really good value.
  15. As AILCP grows: More members will join. Therefore, more customer awareness and referrals to Lawn Care operators, thereby, raising the profile of the Lawn Care sector within the Landscape Industry. Therefore, attracting more members to AILCP. More value for monthly fee as we can pressure materials supplier for better discounts. Pricing at $66 pm, and we will charge out first 12 months in advance at $792. The Operations Manual is available at $1,650
  16. www.LawnCareProfessionals.com.au – domain name purchased from Go Daddy on 29/4/18 – this will provide the public platform for each member
  17. www.TheLawnCareCoach.com – domain name purchased from Go Daddy on 14/3/25
